Why HEAPY
If you’re considering joining HEAPY, I’d encourage you to have the conversation.
After nearly 30 years in architecture, I’ve learned that the projects matter, but the people you work with matter even more. What has impressed me about HEAPY is the quality of the people, the collaborative culture, and the genuine care for both our clients and each other.
Who am I?
Mark brings nearly 30 years of architectural experience. He has led the planning and delivery of high-performing education and research facilities across the Midwest. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for strengthening client partnerships, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and delivering complex projects with clarity, precision, and purpose.
His extensive portfolio includes campus master plans, student hubs, science and research laboratories, applied technology centers, and advanced robotics facilities, all of which shape the future of learning and discovery. Mark also led a Research Laboratory Benchmarking Survey, engaging institutions nationwide to advance industry insight into research facility performance.
Advice for prospective candidates
My advice to candidates interviewing with HEAPY is simple: come prepared, be curious, and be yourself.
Be ready to talk about the projects you’ve worked on, the role you played, and how you worked through challenges with clients and project teams. In the AEC industry, collaboration is everything, so we want to understand how you communicate, solve problems, and work with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
